The Club has voted to move ahead with an outreach program for small and micro businesses. This outreach committee is chaired by Deloris Roach. Plans are underway for an event in mid June. The committee NEEDS VOLUNTEER HELP RIGHT NOW! The task of developing a mailing list involves cross checking a very long list with the voter database. Many hands make light work, so help this committee lighten up. Its easy work, to volunteer NOW, simply go to Volunteer Central and fill out the form.
A threatened withdrawal of accreditation from Solano College. Things are not entirely as they should be, the accreditation process is run amok (owing to Bush era mandates.) The Club has decided to host an informational evening Monday, April 13, 7:00-8:00 pm in the meeting room at Pietro's No 2. Club member, Steve Murphy (recent member of the college's governing board) will give his view of the current punitive practices.
The California Democratic Party Convention is coming up, so resolutions were brought forward and adopted. The resolutions will be sent on to the convention. The resolutions are listed below:
- A Resolution for Improving Higher Education Accreditation Practices
- A Resolution for Relief from No Child Left Behind Expenditures
- A Resolution Opposing the Open Primary in 2010
- A Resolution for majority Rule Initiative Reducing the Threshold for Passing a State Budget
- A Resolution on Contesting Elections
